Estadio Azteca is the only stadium to host two World Cup finals — 1970 and 1986 — and in 2026 it becomes the first to feature at three different World Cups.

At around 2,240 metres of altitude, it staged Pelé’s 1970 Brazil and Maradona’s 1986. The 2026 tournament’s opening match kicks off here.
